Pokemon Gen 8 Officially Announced!!!

The Pokémon Direct on 2/27/19 has given us our first look at the next generation of games. Before I jump into it, if you want to watch the direct, you watch it here or just the trailer here. Everybody good? Great! Let' s jump into it!!

First of all, we get a brand new region!! It is called the Galar Region and appears to be based on the United Kingdom!! I love this idea! The graphics look like an upgrade to Ultra Sun/Moon graphics which is just what I was hoping for! I love how there are beautiful rural towns and a steam punk industrialized city as well. The main player characters look great and the female's outfit is my favorite. I do hope we can customize these characters in some way.

The games will called Pokémon Sword and Shield!! I like the sword and shield logos with a wolf head on both of them. I wonder if the wolf head represents the coat of arms of the current (or last) ruling family. It will be interesting to see how this region works. Speaking of which, gyms have returned and look more like stadiums in this region. The clip of the main character in a soccer uniform seems to point towards a new mechanic involving the stadiums. I look forward to seeing what that is all about.

And of course, you can't have a new region without new starters!! The starters for this region are: the Fire type Scorbunny, the Water type Sobble, and the Grass type Grookey. All three of these starters are adorable and I'm not sure which one I like best. I am leaning towards Scorbunny or Sobble but I can't make a decision until I see the evolutions. So far, I see lots of potential and cannot wait to see what else is in store for us in this new region.

That's all for this week. If you enjoyed this post, please consider following me so you don't miss out on future posts. Leave a comment below telling me your thoughts on the new generation of Pokémon games. Which starter would you choose? I look forward to seeing what others think. Until next time, have a great weekend and as always, keep on gaming!!

Aladdin Special Look Review!

This past week, Disney Studios released a 'special look' trailer for the live-action Aladdin. I have been eagerly anticipating this trailer so we can get a look at the characters and see how they've been translated from animation to live-action. Before I get into it, you can view the trailer here. Okay, everybody ready?? All right, let's get into it!!

First of all, the trailer is gorgeous from the scenery to the costumes. The music is, of course, amazing and I hope it means that the songs will remain in the movie... maybe?? Then we see the characters: Jafar, Iago, Aladdin, Abu, Carpet, Jasmine, Rajah, and of course, the Genie. The animals seem mostly CGI and Iago didn't speak so that leaves me to wonder if they are going for more realistic animal sidekicks this time... though I can't imagine Iago not talking... but I can live with it. Carpet is obviously all CGI but that was expected. Carpet actually looks exactly like he did in the cartoon which is very nice. However, I have 2 concerns about this movie thus far... the first of which is Jafar. While he definitely looks the part, serpent staff and all, he is definitely younger. I guess this was done so his later desire to marry Princess Jasmine won't seem so icky since they will be closer in age. However, he just seems to lack the presence and darkness that the original had. Still, it was only a clip... maybe he will be better in the movie. Plus, he was supposed to be in disguise when he takes Aladdin to the Cave of Wonders but I don't want to be too nit-picky...

Anyway, speaking of hopefully better, that brings us to my second concern - the Genie. He will be portrayed by Will Smith and that doesn't bother me. He can be very funny given the right script. My issue is with the CGI. It was.... not the best. However, I am willing to admit I did see some stuff I liked... like the beautiful golden details painted on the Genie's arms and the overall appearance of the Genie. He looks like what you imagine the Genie would look like in real life if he was played by Will Smith. I feel like they could have gone farther with the CGI (they are Disney for Pete's sake) to give a more cartoony look. Still, it could be worse.

Overall, this trailer gives me hope and gets me excited for this movie. It is like when I watched trailers for Beauty and Beast... I have my reservations but I still get excited at the prospect of seeing something I grew up watching get made into a live-action movie. If only Dumbo inspired the same excitement... but you can't win them all, I guess, so I will take what I can. That does it for this week. What do you think? Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer Review

Unless you've been living under a rock, you no doubt know about the trailer for the new Spider-Man movie trailer that has been on Youtube since Jan 15 of this year. I have seen it and while it promises big action... it also leaves a lot of questions. First, if you wish to see the trailer for yourself check it out here. Okay, let's get into it!

1) When is this movie taking place?

One of the first questions to pop up in my mind was - 'when is this supposed to happen'? With another Avengers movie coming out at about the same time, the MCU timeline is... complicated to say the least. Captain Marvel definitely takes place in the past while the next Avengers movie takes place after Infinity War. So.... when is this exactly? It could be before or after since the events of Infinity War are basically... well... not even mentioned. You can't just ignore one of the most infuriating of all the Avengers' story arcs that INCLUDED Spider-Man.... so.... when is this, exactly? We are not given any indication and with Infinity War still on my mind (to the point of almost making me quit Marvel movies altogether) I can't wrap my head around this new adventure without getting some resolution from the previous story arc.

2) The love interest... meh...

First of all, I have nothing against Zendaya at all (I loved her in The Greatest Showman). That being said, I do not care for this MJ... at all. She (and some other side characters) had this horrible attitude in Homecoming and I had hoped they wouldn't keep them around but of course, they do. She was... for lack of a better word... a total pill during the entire movie and added nothing to the plot. Her only purpose, apparently, was to be built up for this movie. She was negative and rude and I do not understand Peter's attraction at all. I know she's not Mary Jane but still....I can only hope they improve her character in this movie.

3) Mysterio?! Ooh...

I love this choice for the villain. This is one of the few Spider-Man villains that I thought would never see the big screen since his costume includes a fishbowl helmet. It sounds like it would look ridiculous but from what I'm seeing, it seems to work and look pretty cool. I look forward to seeing how this villain's story is treated... will he be sympathetic like the Lizard or diabolical like the Green Goblin?? From what little I know (my main exposure to Spidey was in Spider-man: the Animated Series) of this villain, I do expect him to put on a great show. The effects alone look spectacular so I have high hopes.

Well, I think that covers all of my main concerns. Overall, it seems like it will be a decent (if not slightly predictable) movie. I hope you enjoyed this post. Follow me, if you wish, so you don't miss out on future posts. Leave a comment below telling me your thoughts on this latest trailer. I look forward to reading your comments. Duel Links - Jack Atlas Returns!!

Yes! Jack Atlas has finally returned to Duel Links and we can unlock him!! I have been eagerly anticipating this event all January!! Let's dive into the details on how to unlock the Master of Faster.

Unlocking Jack Atlas is fairly simple: during this event (which lasts until Feb 3 2019 23:59) you have to duel NPCs (or ranked players) for Blue-Eyes Mountain coffees so you can duel against Jack Atlas at the gate. By dueling against Jack, you earn points and once you reach 300,000 points, Jack is yours. This seems like a lot but there are tons of farming decks you can use on top of the x3 rewards multiplier. It took me two days since the first day of the event I was too busy to spend much time on Duel Links.

Jack comes with the ability 'Mark of the Dragon - Wings'. Like the other signer abilities, this skill adds 2 tuners (Dark Resonators) to your deck and 1 synchro monster (Red Dragon Archfiend) to the extra deck at the beginning of each duel. I'm sure there will be a box with Red Dragon Archfiend in it somewhere down the line so this is fine for now.

Okay, I won't talk about his level up rewards (to avoid spoilers) but I will say that I am a bit surprised at their card choices. Also, I really am not a fan of the starter decks you get for new characters... I mean, all weak normal monsters... really? Thankfully, we have access to plenty of cards so that can be remedied... but still, I hope a little more thought goes into character starter decks in the future.

That will be all for today's post. I hope you enjoyed this post and please follow me if you want to keep up with future posts. Leave a comment below telling me your thoughts on this event and new character. Are you excited to use him? Will he help you rule the duels? I look forward to reading your comments/thoughts. Until next time, have a great weekend and keep on gaming!!

Duel Links: OBELISK IS FINALLY HERE!!

Happy New Year, Everyone! We're starting 2019 with a bang and what better way than with the last Egyptian god card finally being added to Duel Links!! Obelisk the Tormentor can finally be used and getting this card is super easy.

To acquire Obelisk, just find Gravekeeper Ishizu. You'll know it's the right one because you will see dialogue between her and Seto Kaiba after you click on her (even if you aren't playing as Kaiba at the time). It confused me at first since I am playing as Mai right now then I realized what it was. Anyway, find Gravekeeper Ishizu and beat her with the deck of your choice. Then go to the missions menu and get your awesome prismatic Obelisk the Tormentor. Like I said, it's super easy. I used my Amazon deck to beat Ishizu but you can use anything like Yubel or Ojamas or even Stardust Dragon. Just remember that Gravekeeper Ishizu is only going to appear in regular Duel World so you'll have to use one of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series characters against her. Aside from that, it's fairly simple.

I hope this helps and that you all get your awesome Obelisk cards. Remember, get the card ASAP so you don't forget. I checked in Duel Links and there is no 'Until' date listed for this event but I wouldn't waste time adding this beauty to your collection!

That's all for this week. I hope you enjoyed this post. Don't forget to Follow me if you wish and please leave a comment telling me your thoughts on finally getting Obelisk the Tormentor. I wish you all a great weekend and as always, keep on gaming!!

Detective Pikachu Movie CONFIRMED!!!

I want to apologize for taking so long between posts. I have been very busy and I intended to post but by the time I would remember - it would be waaay too late. I apologize once again and will try to do better for the rest of this year and the year to come. Okay.... let's get into the good stuff!

You know that rumored Detective Pikachu movie everyone was talking about? The one where Ryan Reynolds was going to voice Detective Pikachu?? Well, that is not a rumor anymore!! Warner Bros. has put out a trailer for this movie on their YouTube channel (here). Yes, I am aware that I am almost a month late on this but let's focus on the trailer. What do I think?? At first, I was shocked to see that the movie will be live-action. I fully expected this movie to be animated like all of the other Pokémon movies.

Visually, it looks amazing. I love pausing the trailer to see how many Pokémon (or references) I can see in each scene. But I do have to say that some of the Pokémon do look like nightmare fuel (that Psyduck... so creepy) in their more realistic appearance. It's still cool, though and I see great potential for this movie. However, there is also the possibility that it could be a flop... but I will remain hopeful at this point. The movie appears to be following the Detective Pikachu game plot (mostly) and that is a great sign. I can't get over how amazing it looks and I really hope that I am not disappointed.

As a fan of Pokémon, I am super excited about this movie and hope to more trailers so we can see even more Pokémon. So far, I like what I see and I only hope future trailers will keep up my optimism (unlike a certain new Avengers movie trailer). I hope you all enjoyed this post. Follow me to keep up with my posts (which will hopefully be more timely from now on) and leave a comment telling me your thoughts on this new movie trailer. Have a great weekend and as always, keep on gaming!!
