My Top 5 Favorite Christmas Movies

Ah, it's that time of year again. It's time to curl up with cup of hot chocolate, some cookies, and a good Christmas movie. Christmas movies are shown on just about every channel from Thanksgiving to New Year's so it's impossible to not indulge in a few of them. Of course, there are always the favorites which you pull out every year without exception. I also have some favorites and I would like to share them with you. So, without any further ado, here are my Top 5 Favorite Christmas Movies.

5. A Charlie Brown Christmas

Oh come on, you knew that this was going to be on the list somewhere. Although it is the shortest movie on this list, it is still entertaining and fun. It's about Charlie Brown (of course) and how he is finding it hard to get into the Christmas spirit this year. One of the charms of the Peanuts gang is how they are children who talk and act like adults. This predicament of Charlie Brown's is particularly relatable. We've all had that one year where we just couldn't get into the spirit of the holidays. At any rate, this is a timeless movie with timeless charm, music, and heart.

4. A Christmas Story

This is one of those films that I didn't like at first. When I was young, I didn't understand my parents' desire to watch this every year. As I grew older, I began appreciating it more and more. Now I understand it very well. It's about a boy named Ralphie who wants to get a special gift for Christmas. We all remember how we hinted and begged for that one Christmas gift that we really wanted. This movie is simply Christmas nostalgia reminding us of those childhood Christmases filled with fun, drama, and even a disaster or two.

3.  Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

There is something about those old stop-motion specials that I always like. My favorite of all of them is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It's the legend of Rudolph as narrated by a snowman. It is a wonderful film with great songs and endearing characters. It's the ultimate misfit adventure including misfit toys, a flying lion, and an abominable snowman. It's a must see for the kid in all of us.

2. Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas

It's no secret the Beauty and the Beast is my favorite animated Disney film. I was thrilled to discover they had made a Christmas movie with the original cast. This story is about Belle bringing Christmas back to the castle after the Beast had forbidden his servants to ever celebrate it again. It features some new characters, great songs, and a great new villain for this story. It has all the original magic and charm of the original movie. I eagerly await watching and singing along with this great film.

1. Scrooge

You've probably noticed by now that I love Christmas movies with music in them. It should come as no surprise then that my favorite Christmas movie of all is a musical. It's Scrooge, the musical adaptation of Charles Dicken's classic Christmas Carol starring Albert Finney. There are many, many versions of 'A Christmas Carol' but this is by far my favorite. It's fun, it's dark, it's happy and sad - it is everything you'd expect a great Christmas movie to be with great music throughout. I highly recommend watching this if you haven't already.

Well, that's it for this week. I just want to wish everyone Happy Holidays in case I don't do a post next week. I may be a bit too busy to get it done and I apologize in advance. Stay warm and safe this December and as always, keep on gaming!!!
