Top 5 Best and Worst Parts of the Set Sail for the Kingdom Duel Links Event

First of all, I am very sorry for the lateness of this post. I have not been feeling well plus I was too busy to get to my computer yesterday. I still wanted to post something so here it is: my top 5 best and worst parts of the 'Set Sail for the Kingdom' event in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel links.

Best:
5) It's different than other events

Most events follow this pattern: collect event items by dueling then spend items dueling against event exclusive character to win points for prizes. This event is different. Well, you do still have to duel to collect event items or dice in this case. However, this time the items are used to traverse a game board where you can collect items, duel characters, or 'read' chapters from the Duelist Kingdom story arc. I find this change refreshing and yet familiar (Destiny Board Traveler, anyone?). There are ten rounds of this event with 5 'zones' or boards per round.

4) Card Lottery

Of all the ways to get cards, this has to be one of my favorites. You earn Millennium coins as you travel around the game board then pay them in increments of 30 in order to hopefully draw cards. You can also draw other things like coins and gems. The more coins you have, the more you can 'draw' at the time.

3) References original anime Duelist Kingdom Arc

I am a huge fan of the original dubbed anime and this is such a nostalgia rush for me. I hope they do more events like this for Battle City or Waking the Dragons.

2) Kuriboh is unlockable/winnable

I have been waiting for this card for what seems like forever. Kuriboh is one of my favorite cards and has been around in the TCG since its release in the Metal Raiders booster set. I don't know why it wasn't in Duel Links up to this point but I am glad that it is in there now. Now if only Winged Kuriboh were available...

1) You unlock Yugi

Of all of the recently unlockable characters, I think this is the one that I wanted the most. Now I have to figure out a strategy around Gandora, the Dragon of Destruction....

Worst:
5) Card Lottery

I love the Card Lottery, really, but I am finding the odds of getting the card that I want to be a bit high. Even if I draw ten at once, I still am having trouble getting cards that I want (mostly of the higher rarity). Still, it's minor so that's why its at the bottom of the list.

4) 7 dice pieces = 1 roll?!

This I do not understand. A standard die has 6 sides because it is a cube. Why does it take 7 pieces to equal a roll of a die?! I really don't understand it. It's a minor irritant, but it is irritating after all.

3) Stop space mandatory story text

Certain spaces are designated with a 'STOP' and a character that you have to beat in order to move on. However, because its part of the Duelist Kingdom story arc, they is a lot of text to read through before you get to your duel selection screen. My issue is that I will realize that I have the wrong deck selected and therefore have to back out of the event, change decks, then go back in. Upon doing so, I have to re-read through all of that text again. There is a speed-up button, but it still takes a long time. Worse still, if you lose, you have to read the text all over again before choosing to duel. If you get stuck on a duelist, this could take a considerable amount of time. I wish you could just read the text once and never again (unless in a new round).

2) Stop space defeat conditions

Here is issue #2 with the stop spaces: you can't move forward until you win. Other duelist spaces let you move on regardless of win or lose, but not stop spaces. This gets annoying especially on stop spaces at the end of the board or zone.

1) Stop space re-rolls

Here is issue #3 with the stop spaces: if you lose, you are sent back one space. This means you have to roll the die again just to hit the stop space again so you can try again to beat the duelist. It's frustrating to waste die rolls just to get to a space that you have already hit again and again.

Well, that's it for this week. I hope you enjoyed this post and will Follow me so you don't miss out on future posts. Have a great Labor Day Weekend and as always, keep on gaming!!
