Pokemon Sun and Moon Variants, Customization, More Custom Z-Moves, and Pokemon Refresh

Well, another trailer has been released since the CoroCoro leaks this month. I know what you're thinking. 'KelleyG, it's been over a week since the CoroCoro leaks and you're just now posting about it?! Put some hustle in your Crustle!' I didn't think there was much information in those leaks, okay? I wanted more to go on before forming an opinion. Now that we've got that out of the way - let's get back to the latest Sun and Moon news!!

More Ultra Beasts!
UB-02 Beauty and UB-02 Absorption were announced in the CoroCoro leaks and later shown in a teaser trailer. The latest trailers clear up some of the mystery of why they have the same number but it still leave a lot of questions. UB-02 Absorption is in Pokémon Sun and Beauty is in Pokémon Moon. The designs are okay. Beauty is tall, painfully thin, and delicate. The animation suggests that Beauty will be very fast. However, Absorption is all muscle...so it will be powerful but slow. It is still unclear is these are Pokémon or not. Since they are not listed in with the Pokémon on the official site, I will assume they are not Pokémon (or at least uncatchable). If not Pokémon, then what are they? Dimensional beings? Experiments?! I can't wait to find out.

Version Exclusive Pokémon!
Passimian
This is a Fighting type and is exclusive to Pokémon Sun. It's a lemur crossed with an American football player. It's a decent concept but it doesn't look like a Pokémon. It looks like a lemur. It's ability Receiver let's it acquire it's ally's ability if they fall in battle. This means it only works in double battles and free-for-alls. This is fine but limits its usefulness.

Oranguru
This is a Normal/Psychic type and is exclusive to Pokémon Moon. It's a white and purple orangutan. Again, decent concept with an okay design but it just doesn't look like a Pokémon. It's ability and special move also work only in double battles and free-for-alls. Again it limits its usefulness. Since there were 20 version exclusive Pokémon in X, Y, and ORAS, I feel it is safe to assume that there will be more version exclusives to come. However, in X and Y only 5 were Kalos region Pokémon (2 evolution chains and the legendaries). This leads me to the unfortunate conclusion that these two are probably the only version exclusives from the Alola region besides the legendaries...and the next Pokémon that I will talk about.

Version Exclusive Evolution!
This is first for the Pokémon games and I love the concept. Lycanroc is the evolution of Rockruff. His form depends on which game you have.

Midday form
This is the form for Pokémon Sun. It looks like a tan wolf with rocky spikes coming out of it. The design is decent and works for the evolution line. It is a Rock type which makes sense.

Midnight form
This is the form for Pokémon Moon. It is a werewolf with burgundy fur and wild eyes. I don't like this design very much. It seems very disproportionate. It is Rock type as well which is surprising. In the leaks, I thought I would be Rock/Dark or Rock/Psychic.

Character Customization is back and better than ever!
I was so thrilled to see this in the newest trailer. It looks like they expanded on hair styles and colors as well as clothes. Also, thankfully, it appears that you can take off your character's hat. That is a relief. It was such an annoyance in X and Y to not be able to remove the hat. The clothes are colorful and diverse and I cannot wait to customize my character in November!!

Pokémon Refresh
This is Pokémon-Amie with grooming and 1 unexpected twist. You can heal your Pokémon's status ailments like paralysis and poison. This part makes me wonder...does this mean that if you have no healing items that you can just use Pokémon Refresh instead? If this is available from the start of the game then you won't have to buy healing items like antidotes and burn heals. Or does this mean we won't have access to healing items since Alola is such a remote region? I can't be sure thus far. Only time will tell as more details are released.

More Custom Z-Moves!
Pikachu has its own Z-Move called Catastropika. This should have been expected since Raichu has a custom Z-Move. Catastropika is the cutest Z-Move dance that I have seen yet. It also looks very powerful.

Eevee also has its own custom Z-Move. It's called Extreme Evoboost. The animation part of this is very long. I do enjoy seeing all of Eevee's evolutions coming together, though. Unfortunately, this also seems to confirm that that there are no new Eevee evolutions coming in Sun and Moon. To be honest, I would rather have a new evolution than the Z-Move. Well, at least Eevee got some love in this game.

And there you have it! There wasn't really that much revealed but Game Freak can't tell us everything before the new games come out. There will be new information released on Oct 4, I believe, so I will be on the lookout for that. Leave a comment telling me your thoughts on the latest trailers and follow me so you don't miss new posts. Keep on playing and until next time, blog happy!
