Top 10 Yu-Gi-Oh! Effect Monsters - Beast type

It's that time again! This time it's all about Beast type effect monsters. Before I start, I want to get a few things out there. One, I am only doing this on effect monsters, not Fusion, Xyz, Synchro, tuner, or anything like that. Two, this is all my opinion. If you don't agree, leave a comment telling me your top 10 beast monsters. Now that we've covered the formalities....let's begin!

10. Bazoo the Soul Eater
It's a level 4 monster so it's easy to summon. Plus, it can give its self an ATK boost. The amount depends upon how many monsters you banish (up to 3) from your graveyard. Plus, the ATK boost stays until your opponent's turn is over. Nice!

9. Gyaku-Gire Panda
Who doesn't love pandas? How about a panda that gives itself a 500 ATK boost for every monster your opponent controls? That's my kind of panda. Plus, it can inflict piercing damage (if defense position opposing monster has DEF lower that Gyaku-Gire Panda's ATK, opponent takes difference as damage). The only drawback is that works best only if your opponent has a lot of monsters on the field.

8. Flame Tiger
High ATK and low level already make this card powerful. It's ability pushes it over the edge. If it's in your graveyard, instead of drawing a card that turn you can special summon it. Drawback? It's banished when it leaves the field.

7. Fencing Fire Ferret
Again, it's another high ATK and low level card. I do not have a thing for Fire attribute cards, I promise, but this card had to be on this list. When it's destroyed you can destroy 1 face up monster that your opponent has AND inflict 500 points of damage. How is this not great?! Okay, the damage doesn't happen unless you destroy a monster...that's why it's not higher on the list. Still, it's a great card.

6. Vampire Koala
The only thing greater than a low level monster that can inflict damage is one that can also recover life points. Vampire Koala does just that. When if inflicts damage, you gain the same amount in life points. Plus, it has super adorable card art.

5. Gravity Behemoth
Our first high level monster of the day! This level 6 bruiser has an impressive ability. If there are no cards on the field, it can be summoned without a tribute! Of course, that is only when it's not the first turn of the duel. Plus, it can also destroy field spell cards. Drawback? It can't attack if you used that ability. It's worth it to upset your opponent's strategy.

4. Performapal Elephammer
I could not leave Performapals off this list. Elephammer gets center stage since it can be normal summoned without a tribute if you control 2 or more other Performapals. Plus, when it attacks you can return all of your opponent's spell and trap cards it their hand. The only downside - it can't attack unless you control another Performapal. This shouldn't be a problem so it's well worth it.

3. Behemoth the King of All Animals
First, it can be summoned with 1 tribute. For a level 7 monster, that's huge. However, its ATK drops to 2000 if summoned that way. Second, when tribute summoned, you can take as many Beast monsters as there were tributes from your graveyard and put them in your hand. So it can be summoned somewhat quickly and can get monsters into your hand. Not bad!

2. Earthbound Immortal Cusillu
Anyone who has seen the 5Ds anime knows how powerful these cards can be. In the case of Cusillu, it cannot be an attack target and it can attack directly. Plus, if it would be destroyed by battle (somehow), you can tribute another monster instead then your opponent's life points are cut in half. So if your opponent finds a way to attack it, you lose a different monster instead and they lose life points. What's not to love? All Earthbound Immortals have 2 drawbacks: there can only be 1 on the field at a time and if there isn't a field spell card on the field, the monster is destroyed. I think this is well worth it in this case.

And in the #1 spot we have.........

1. Andro Sphinx, Sphinx Teleia, and Theinen the Great Sphinx
Let me break it down first:
Andro Sphinx - you can summon it for 500 life points if you have Pyramid of Light on the field face-up and if it defeats a defense position monster, you opponent takes half the defense position monster's ATK as damage. However, it can't attack the turn it is summoned and you can't special summon it from the graveyard.
Sphinx Teleia - it has the same abilities and drawbacks as Andro Sphinx except that when it defeats a defense position monster, your opponent takes half the defense position monster's DEF as damage.
Theinen the Great Sphinx - it can only be special summoned by paying 500 life points when the previous 2 monsters are destroyed at the same time. However, it can be special summoned from the hand or the deck. Plus, when the summon is successful, at the cost of another 500 life points you can boost this monster's ATK by 3000 for this turn.

Now, I know that the first 2 of these rely on Pyramid of Light being active on the field for the special summons to work. Plus, the same 2 have to survive on the field for a turn before you can attack with them. Still...we are looking at 3000 and 2500 ATK stats plus it only costs 1000 life points to get them both on the field in the same turn. I don't see how your opponent can destroy them both (aside from Dark Hole or destroying the Pyramid of Light) and if they do, you just use Theinen's ability to summon itself on the field for another 500 life points.
That being said, these 3 cards form a seriously powerful combo. I couldn't pick just 1 to be in the #1 spot for this list. Also, they were in Yu-Gi-Oh! the movie as well. Anime love aside - these cards are amazing!

And there you have it. I hope you enjoyed this post. Again, leave me a comment with your top 10 beast effect cards if you wish. Follow me so you won't miss any posts and as always, blog happy!
